This Simple Marinara Dip uses 7 staple ingredients and is SO flavorful! Honestly, the PERFECT dip for mozzarella sticks, pizza bites, and so much more! Gluten-free and vegetarian (+ can be made dairy-free and vegan!)

  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil 
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 (28 oz) can Italian tomatoes , crushed
  • tsp sugar (optional)
  • 8-10 leaves fresh basil , chopped
  • fresh parmesan , grated (omit if DF/VG)
  • salt and pepper , to taste


  • In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. 
  • Add the tomato paste and garlic powder, then stir for 2 minutes. 
  • Add in the Italian tomatoes, salt, pepper, sugar and chopped basil. Bring the mixture to a boil. 
  • Turn the heat to low, then simmer for 30 minutes, or until the marinara sauce has thickened. 
  • Taste and adjust seasonings, if needed.
  • Pour the dip mixture into a serving bowl, then sprinkle with grated parmesan.
  • Serve immediately, or keep the dip covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
