For the Tri-Tip:

For the Sandwich:

  • 2 crusty bread , grilled
  • Garlic butter
  • extra barbeque sauce , optional

  • In a small bowl, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes. Mix to combine, then rub the spice mixture over the tri-tip.
  • Wrap the dry-rubbed tri-tip and refrigerate overnight.
  • Preheat grill to 400F. Brush with the melted butter, then sear on both sides.
  • Lower the grill to 350˚F and generously baste the entire tri-tip with barbeque sauce. Close grill lid and cook for 25-30 minutes (to your preferred doneness), flipping every 5 minutes.
  • Once done, turn off the grill and transfer the meat to a cutting board to cool for 5 minutes, then slice the tri-tip thinly, about 1/3 inch thick.
  • Assemble the tri-tip sandwich by generously spreading garlic butter on your grilled crusty bread. Stuff the slices of tri tip on each sandwich and slather extra barbeque sauce. ENJOY!
