Ingredients

For the Alfredo Sauce

For the Shrimp

  • 1 ½ pounds large shrimp , thawed and peeled
  • 1 Tablespoon butter (or olive oil)
  • freshly chopped parsley , to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • In a large pot, cook the pasta until al dente or according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat a large pan over medium heat. Add cubed butter and let it melt. Add garlic and stir until fragrant (about 1 minute). Pour in the heavy cream and whisk to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and allow to cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often.
  • Reduce heat and mix in the parmesan cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add in the cooked pasta and toss it in the sauce to coat.
  • Meanwhile, season the shrimp with salt and pepper. In a large pan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat. Add in the shrimp and cook until pink, about 3 minutes.
  • Divide the cooked alfredo pasta into 4 bowls, then top with shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley, then eat immediately. ENJOY!

Notes

Parmesan Cheese: Use freshly grated parmesan instead of pre-shredded Parmesan to get the most out of it. It won't melt as cleanly or taste as good as freshly grated!
Recipe Tweaks:
  • Lighter Alfredo Sauce: You can substitute milk or half-and-half for the cream; the sauce will not be as smooth, but you can thicken it with a cornstarch slurry.
  • Make a Combination Alfredo: Add in some grilled chicken for a great combo Alfredo dish.
  • One Pan Alfredo: Add some steamed broccoli right before serving to make an incredible one-pot dinner.
  • Cajun Shrimp Alfredo (one of our favorites): Season the shrimp with cajun seasoning before cooking. The cajun seasoning will come and compliment the creaminess of the sauce.
