In a large pot, cook the pasta until al dente or according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Heat a large pan over medium heat. Add cubed butter and let it melt. Add garlic and stir until fragrant (about 1 minute). Pour in the heavy cream and whisk to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and allow to cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring often.
Reduce heat and mix in the parmesan cheese until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
Add in the cooked pasta and toss it in the sauce to coat.
Meanwhile, season the shrimp with salt and pepper. In a large pan, melt 1 tablespoon butter over medium-high heat. Add in the shrimp and cook until pink, about 3 minutes.
Divide the cooked alfredo pasta into 4 bowls, then top with shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley, then eat immediately. ENJOY!
Notes
Parmesan Cheese: Use freshly grated parmesan instead of pre-shredded Parmesan to get the most out of it. It won't melt as cleanly or taste as good as freshly grated!Recipe Tweaks:
Lighter Alfredo Sauce: You can substitute milk or half-and-half for the cream; the sauce will not be as smooth, but you can thicken it with a cornstarch slurry.
Make a Combination Alfredo: Add in some grilled chicken for a great combo Alfredo dish.
One Pan Alfredo: Add some steamed broccoli right before serving to make an incredible one-pot dinner.
Cajun Shrimp Alfredo(one of our favorites): Season the shrimp with cajun seasoning before cooking. The cajun seasoning will come and compliment the creaminess of the sauce.
