This Kerala Beef Curry recipe is so easy to make! This is an original recipe created by my friend from Kerala. I dare say this beef curry recipe more authentic (and healthier!) than your Indian restaurant take-out! Just 30 minutes of cook time, and you'll get a delicious, perfectly tender beef curry that's ready to be paired with a bowl of warm rice or toasted naan. This recipe is gluten-free and dairy-free. Yields 4 servings.
Heat coconut oil in a pressure cooker (or Instant Pot) over medium heat. Add in onion and salt. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes and green chili. Saute until the tomatoes become soft and juicy. Then add in garlic, ginger, and curry leaves and cook until fragrant, about 2 minutes.
Add in the beef, followed by chili powder, coriander powder, black pepper, and garam masala. Mix well to combine. Add in water.
Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 20 to 30 minutes (4 to 6 whistles) or until beef is thoroughly cooked through. Allow the pressure to release completely before opening the pressure cooker.
Serve the Kerala beef curry with warm Basmati rice or homemade roti. ENJOY!
