This easy Tri-Tip Sandwich recipe is inspired by the popular tri-tip sandwich at Mike's Grill in Fresno, CA. It features tender grilled tri-tips sandwiched between two slices of buttery and toasty bread paired with mouthwatering BBQ sauce. A delicious recipe everyone will talk about for days!
In a small bowl, add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes. Mix to combine, then rub the spice mixture over the tri-tip.
Wrap the dry-rubbed tri-tip and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat grill to 400F. Brush with the melted butter, then sear on both sides.
Lower the grill to 350˚F and generously baste the entire tri-tip with barbeque sauce. Close grill lid and cook for 25-30 minutes (to your preferred doneness), flipping every 5 minutes.
Once done, turn off the grill and transfer the meat to a cutting board to cool for 5 minutes, then slice the tri-tip thinly, about 1/3 inch thick.
Assemble the tri-tip sandwich by generously spreading garlic butter on your grilled crusty bread. Stuff the slices of tri tip on each sandwich and slather extra barbeque sauce. ENJOY!
