Instructions
Prepare the Beans
Mash the Beans: In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth. Leave a few chunks for texture.
Mix the Ingredients
Combine Everything: Add the bread crumbs, chopped onions, bell peppers, egg, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.
Form Patties: Shape the mixture into 4-6 patties, depending on your desired size.
Cook the Bean Burgers
Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Cook the Patties: Cook the bean burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.
Assemble Your Burger
Toast the Buns: If desired, toast the burger buns in the skillet for a minute or two.
Add Toppings: Place the bean patties on the buns and add your favorite toppings.
