Who is Daniel Tiger?

Daniel Tiger is the main character in the PBSKids show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. The show is about Daniel learning how to deal with different situations in life.

In an episode, he learns about the joys of making banana ice cream with his mom. The recipe uses only 1 ingredient: ripe bananas!

After making this recipe a few times now, I can say that our entire family is a fan of Banana Swirl. Give it a try!

What You Need to Make Banana Swirl

  • 2 ripe bananas

How to Make Banana Swirl Ice Cream

  1. Cut the bananas into coins, place them in an airtight container, then freeze for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  2. Once the banana coins are fully frozen, add them to a food processor or high-speed blender. Blend until the bananas turn creamy and look like soft serve ice cream! It should take about 5 minutes.
  3. You can eat the Banana Swirl immediately if you like a soft-serve texture.
  4. You can also transfer it to an airtight container and freeze it until solid (about 1-2 hours). When ready to eat, let the frozen ice cream thaw at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  5. Eat your banana ice cream as is or serve it with toppings like chocolate chips, chocolate drizzle, strawberries, peanut butter, shredded coconut, and more!

Tips to Make the Best Banana Swirl

  • If you like sweeter ice cream, feel free to add 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey.
  • If your blender needs liquid to blend the frozen bananas, add 1-2 tablespoons of milk (works great with plant-based milk too!)
  • Have fun customizing this banana swirl recipe with your favorite add-ons. My favorites include frozen strawberries, cocoa powder, peanut butter, and more!
