This Blackstone griddle model is my favorite – and it just so happens to be one of the more affordable ones too.

Other Ways to Customize This Recipe

I sometimes also like to add a dash of garlic powder and minced fresh ginger while cooking.

To make hibachi fried rice like in a fancy Japanese steakhouse, you can also sprinkle the fried rice with some sesame seeds right before serving as the last step! It goes perfectly with the few drops of toasted sesame oil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you cook rice before putting on griddle?

Yes, you’ll want to cook the rice before putting it on your Blackstone griddle. You can use a rice cooker, Instant Pot, or cook it on stovetop.

Do you have to pre cook rice for fried rice?

Yes. To make the best Blackstone chicken fried rice (or any fried rice, really), you’ll want to use day-old, refrigerated cooked rice.

Freshly-cooked rice will make your fried rice too soft, so pre-cook the rice at least an hour ahead, or preferable the day before.

Some of my favorite fresh vegetables to use in this blackstone chicken fried rice recipe include green beans, bell pepper, mushrooms, and so much more.

What kind of rice is best for fried rice?

I recommend white rice for best results. This chicken fried rice recipe can be made with long-grain rice or short-grain rice. Jasmine rice is one of my favorites!

What if I don’t have rotisserie chicken?

You can substitute the rotisserie chicken with cooked chicken breast or boneless chicken thighs.

Can I Use Other Vegetables in the Chicken Fried Rice?

Absolutely! The great thing about this recipe is how customizable it is.

Can I Double the Fried Rice Recipe?

Yes! This recipe is great for large family dinners. Just double (or triple!) the recipe and dinner are served!
