Can you reheat chicken pot pie?

Yes, you can reheat a leftover chicken pot pie in just a few simple steps.

Chicken pot pies can be reheated in the oven (best option), on the stove, or in the microwave. We’re going to cover all three ways to reheat your chicken pot pie below.

How hot should reheated chicken pot pie be?

Reheated chicken pot pie should be heated to an internal temperature of 165°F. Use a digital instant-read food thermometer to check that the center of the chicken pot pie has reached this temperature before serving.

How do you reheat a pie without it going soggy?

We’ve found that the best way to reheat a whole pie without it going soggy is by baking it in the oven until the filling is hot.

If you want to crisp up the crust, we also recommend adding a few tablespoons of butter or margarine to the top of the crust before baking. The crust will become crispy again as it warms up.

How to Reheat Chicken Pot Pie in the Oven

The best method to reheat a chicken pot pie is by heating it up in a conventional oven. The oven uses dry heat to cook food items, so it is the best way to ensure a flaky crust. You have to use the perfect temperature, though, because high heat will burn your crust.

Reheating Frozen Chicken Pot Pie in the Oven

If your chicken pot pie is frozen, here’s how you can reheat it:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Remove the frozen pie from its packaging and place it on a baking sheet.
  3. Cover the frozen pot pie with aluminum foil and bake it in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  4. Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is hot throughout.
  5. Allow the pot pie to cool before serving. Enjoy!

Reheating Refrigerated Pot Pie in the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Place the chicken pot pie in an oven-safe baking dish.
  3. Cover pie with aluminum foil and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the pie is heated through.
  4. Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 5 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  5. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

How to reheat chicken pot pie on the stove

If you don’t want to use the oven, you can always use the stove. The stove is the second best method to reheat your chicken pot pie, but it does require a little extra effort than the oven technique.

  1. Remove the chicken pot pie from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature.
  2. Heat a large skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat on the stove.
  3. Place the chicken pot pie directly in the skillet or pan. If it doesn’t fit, you can cut the pie into portions.
  4. Cook for about 10 minutes, flipping occasionally until heated through and golden brown. The exact time will vary depending on the size of your chicken pot pie.
  5. If desired, add a tablespoon of butter or olive oil to the pan while heating to create a crispier crust.

How to reheat chicken pot pie in the microwave

If you don’t have an oven or a stove, you can always reheat chicken pot pie in the microwave oven. We don’t recommend this method because it will not give you the best results, but it is also the quickest way.

  1. Cut the chicken pot pie into slices and place it on a microwave-safe plate or microwave-safe dish.
  2. Microwave it for 2 minutes, then check the internal temperature. If it’s not heated through, microwave it for another 30 seconds (repeat as needed until you reach an internal temperature of 165°F.)
  3. Eat immediately, or repeat this process for a couple of minutes until you reheat the whole pie and ENJOY!
