What is Sweet Potato Pone?
Pones are a popular Southern dish reminiscent of a pudding and a cake. While typically made with corn, pones can also be made with other root vegetables, such as in this sweet potato pone recipe.
Traditionally, the pone is cooked in a round skillet that’s either fried over the fire, or baked in the oven. It’s considered soul food!
In this recipe, we will be baking the sweet potato pone, and you are free to use a square baking dish if you don’t have a round dish.
