One of my husband’s favorite Starbucks drinks (outside of the Cold Brew Latte) is none other than the seasonal, and incredibly delicious, Starbucks Toasted White Chocolate Mocha. It’s decadent, creamy, and just overall the perfect winter drink.

Each cup is made with a shot (or two!) of espresso, toasty condensed milk sauce, melted white chocolate chips, and milk. The mocha is then served over ice and topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy.

Uh, hello? Yes, please.

Why Should I Make My Own?

I don’t know about you, but I am obsessed with holiday drinks. Somehow, they just taste better to me! Unfortunately, this festive drink is only available during the holiday season at all the Starbucks stores, so making my own copycat Toasted White Chocolate Mocha is a way I can drink from the seasonal menu any time of the year!

Plus, the drink is so easy to make, and making your own at home will save you a ton of money compared to buying it at Starbucks.

You can also customize the drinkable sweet treat in different ways! For example, you can add sea salt or white chocolate shavings on top, use an extra pump of white chocolate syrup or swap with vanilla syrup, or use heavy cream instead of milk for an extra thick drink.

Either way, this toasted white chocolate mocha recipe is delicious as is, and also delicious when customized to make different variations of both the cold and hot drinks that you love!

Can I Make This Recipe Dairy-Free?

You sure can! Just swap out the milk with non-dairy milks (I love using this oat milk instead), the condensed milk with coconut condensed milk, and use non-dairy white chocolate chips.

How to Make This Recipe in 10 Minutes

Don’t have lots of time? Here’s what you can do to make this drink in 10 minutes:

  • Make regular white chocolate mocha by skipping the “Make the Toasted White Chocolate Sauce” part. Skip down to the “Assemble the Drink” section and use the condensed milk straight from the can instead of caramelizing it first.
  • Still want that “toasted” flavor but don’t have enough time? Skip the “Make the Toasted White Chocolate Sauce” part and use pre-made dulce de leche.

How to Make Starbucks Toasted White Chocolate Mocha

Make the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha Sauce:

  1. Remove the label of the condensed milk can, then place it in a tall pot. Add water until the can is submerged and bring the water to boil on medium high heat.
  2. When the water comes to a boil, turn the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2-3 hours. You might need to refill the water occassionally to keep the can submerged as water evaporates. The longer you boil the condensend milk, the “darker” the caramelization (more “toasted” flavor).
  3. In a small bowl, add 2 1/2 teaspoon of the hot caramelized condensed milk and whisk together with the white chocolate chips until melted. This is your toasted white chocolate sauce.

Assemble the Drink:

  1. In a medium pot, add in the milk and bring to a boil.
  2. When the milk comes to a boil, turn the heat to medium-low and add in the toasted white chocolate sauce. Turn off the heat.
  3. Divide the espresso into 2 tall cups (I use 1 shot in mine but my husband prefers 2 shots)
  4. Pour the hot milk mixture evenly into the cups over the espresso.
  5. Add in ice cubes for a cold mocha (optional), then top with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy. Serve immediately. ENJOY!
