Honest Review: We Tried Munchy Crunchy Vegetarian Protein Snacks!
Vegetarian Traveler® just came out with their new line of vegetarian protein snacks called Munchy Crunchy! This month, we tried all the available flavors and are excited to share with you our honest review of these protein “toppers”!
If you’ve read some of my earlier recipe posts here on the blog, you might remember me talk about growing up in Indonesia – where we ate LOTS of plant protein! While I’m not a complete vegetarian, I am always looking for more plant protein options to incorporate in my daily diet. And these days, there are plenty of plant protein options for meals – but what about vegetarian protein snacks?
Today, I’m excited to share with you my honest review of the newly-launched Munchy Crunchy Protein Toppers! I came across this popular vegetarian protein snack about a month ago, and thought it would be helpful to share with you my honest review! As always, all opinions are my own, and I only share those opinions after trying the products myself! In fact, for this review alone, I went ahead and got several pouches of each flavor variant and asked my husband to try them too. I guess it’s safe to say there has been lots of snacking around here!
About Munchy Crunchy Protein Toppers
Munchy Crunchy is a product line by the Vegetarian Traveler®. According to their website, here’s what the founders had to say:
“We are Christy and Chuck; children of the sixties, Trekkies, peace-lovers, social activists and compassionate living enthusiasts. We have raised our family governed by the principles of compassion, good nutrition, and environmental stewardship and have passed these values along to our children and grandchildren.
Over the years we have embraced an active vegetarian lifestyle; exploring, connecting and celebrating with friends and family, yet we have always found ourselves faced with the challenge of getting enough healthy protein in our diet throughout the day – especially when we’re away from home. After years of compromise or just opting out, we decided to make another commitment: to develop ways for all people to conveniently add a lot more healthy, real-food plant protein to their diet.
…Along with the many benefits of our unique plant-based meal toppers, we also wanted a healthy, flavored snack. It had to have a lot of plant-based protein – not just another 7 or 8g protein snack. It had to be made with simple & healthy ingredients, have the crunch everyone loves and an awesome taste!
We headed back to the kitchen to create our Munchy Crunchy Protein™ Snack. These three favorite and delicious flavors … are ready for you to enjoy. So, whether your taste leans towards sweet & salty, savory, or mildly spicy, we have your snack needs covered with delicious nutrition. Great for all ages!”
What is Munchy Crunchy Protein Toppers Made Of?

At the time of this review, Munchy Crunchy offers three featured flavors:
- Salted Caramel

- Rockin’ Ranch

How Do I Eat “Protein Toppers”?
As the name implies, Munchy Crunchy is meant to be a topping item to complement different meals. For example, I topped my breakfast fritata with the Chillin’ Chipotle protein toppers to add an extra crunch. Then, I used the Rockin’ Ranch protein toppers to complement my potato soup for lunch. Finally, I decided to make my own trail mix with the Salted Caramel Protein Toppers. The possibilities are endless!
P.S: I’ve also enjoyed them as is from the pack – and loved them too!
