In 2004, Taco Bell introduced its new drink called the Baja Blast. Essentially, Baja Blast is a tropical lime version of Mountain Dew that was designed specifically around Taco Bell’s Mexican-inspired recipes.

And for a while, it was sold only at Taco Bell locations. It quickly developed a cult following and people kept asking: how do you make Baja Blast?

Now, you can buy Baja Blast at retailers like Walmart or Amazon, but it’s still always so fun to make your own Baja Blast with this easy copycat recipe (especially when you’re not looking to buy a whole case!)

FUN FACT: Baja Blast marked a new precedent for fast-food restaurants and beverage companies alike as they produce proprietary drinks to suit a specific cuisine with the intention of increasing sales through drive-through windows.

  1. Thankfully my local Piggly Wiggly and Dollar General has the real Mountain Dew Baja Blast fairly often so every once in a while i’ll treat myself to a 6 pack ? Which is a blessing because the closest Taco Bell to me is almost an hour away plus I don’t eat fast food much anymore so i’ll get Taco Bell only a few times a year. You know what Mountain Dew I really miss tho? Pitch Black loved the black color of it, the taste, how the carbonation was purple and that they always released it during Halloween but last I heard they discontinued it haven’t seen it in YEARS ? Now if you have a recipe for that i’d be all on it ?
